MEET THE TEAM

Each of the Sundance Media Group team members have backgrounds in flight, either in manned aviation, parachuting, or unmanned aviation, coupled with a strong background in media production. Each has his/her own area of expertise, providing a balance between UAV for production and UAV for Commercial/Infrastructure uses.

Douglas Spotted Eagle, CEO of SMG, has long history of aviation from the adrenaline-filled world of fast-action videography in skydiving to commercial application of drone/UAV use. Douglas is one of two FAI International Judges in the USA, a USPA National Judge, with ratings as a USPA Instructor/Examiner, and one of a few Safety and Training Advisors at Large in North America, in addition to sport pilot ratings. With over 350 hours of flight time, over 6,000 skydives, and having completed numerous aerial cinematography projects, Douglas has an intimate knowledge of the FAA FARs and FSIMs. SMG’s new vision is to incorporate its years of aviation experience for best-practice straining and consulting into the world of Commercial and Infrastructure UAV use.

Luisa is a private pilot, and Certified Advanced Ground School Instructor from the FAA with hundreds of  hours of flight time. An Adobe Master Instructor, Luisa has been an educator for over 30 years teaching Adobe, Apple and production classes for clients in government, military and private organizations. Luisa started teaching for FMC in 2005 and has become one of FMC’s top instructors. “Flying and teaching became natural to me; if we can teach people how to fly, they will continue life believing there’s nothing they cannot do.”

Jennifer

Jennifer Pidgen is a rated USPA regional wingsuit and speed skydiving judge. Jennifer is no stranger to logistical and analytical services that support aviation and UAV flight. With over 20 years of marketing experience within the consumer electronics and photo/ video channels and holding a degree in finance, Jennifer manages vendor/sponsor relationships, UAV Logistics/Operations, and syllabus review. Her expertise is inspiring conversation and cultivating mutually-beneficial partnerships; each with a focus towards building a successful and safe UAV community.

Tracy Lamb

Tracy Lamb

Tracy Lamb has 20 years of experience in commercial aviation with over 7000 flight hours as a commercial pilot including operating as an International Airline pilot (Boeing 737), Senior Flight Instructor, Charter Pilot and international Corporate Jet Pilot. She is also a Qualified Remote Pilot, and works closely within the commercial RPAS inspection environment.
Tracy is a specialist in aviation Human Factors, Crew Resource Management, Risk and Safety Management Systems and has spent years focusing her research on these factors in the application of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS or drones), including delivering world class safety training courses which have been recognised as best in class.
Tracy contributes to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) ‘RPAS Panel working group’ (WG7) and contributes as a board member on RPAS associations in Australia and Europe.
As an ISO 9000:2008 lead auditor, she has conducted operational safety audits, inspections for manned, unmanned aircraft operators and maintenance organisations around the World.
Tracy holds awards for academic excellence from her research and qualifications in applied science (aviation), Masters Degree in business management, aviation human factors. In conjunction with RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, Tracy remains active in research and development focusing on safety and risk management in all aspects of commercial aviation on a global scale.

For as long as Jon can remember, he has felt most comfortable behind the lens, producing unique and intriguing videos that push creative boundaries that help his clients grow and better their business.

Stephen Bier

Stephen Bier

Stephen has over 30 years of experience in Remote Sensing and Imagery Sciences. His experience has included work with film, digital imaging and video technologies while engaged in aerial survey, photogrammetry and forensics projects. His skill set also extends to more traditional video production/post-production as he is an Adobe Certified Video Expert. Most recently, Stephen was engaged by the World Bank for a multi-spectral imagery analysis as part of a study of drought effects in advance of famine relief efforts.

James Spear

James Spear

James Spear, has an extensive computer and electronics background. Starting at NASA Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB, CA. in the Information technology department. After three years at NASA, James enlisted in the United States Air Force in Security Forces. Over his twelve-year career with the USAF, James assisted on establishing several installation uses for the RQ-1 Raven system. James has also been a member of the Civil Air Patrol, USAF Auxiliary since 1999. Recently, James was assigned as a Senior sUAS pilot and trainer for the Civil Air Patrol and is currently helping with developing a nationwide training curriculum for sUAS operations. James is also a Civil Air Patrol rated Mission Observer and Aerial Photographer instructor in Nevada. James is currently working on achieving a private pilot, glider and 107 rating, with the ultimate goal of a Rotor CFII rating.

Jack Spear

Jack Spear

Jack Spear is a fixed wing rated private pilot, with an instrument rating, and advanced ground instructor rating. Jack has over 1000hrs of pilot in command time. He has taught aviation ground schools for several years. His interest in UAV’s has been a recent addition to his aviation background. He is currently the project officer for Civil Air Patrol’s UAV test and evaluation program. The goal is to integrate UAV’s into CAP’s Emergency Services, Search and Rescue Mission. His intent is to assist SMG with integrating UAV’s into broad use. Jack is retired from NASA, where he worked in aircraft ops, quality assurance, and security. When Jack is not busy with aviation related stuff you can find him at a local comedy club performing stand-up comedy.
